# Migrating your data from a demo

Here is how to export contacts form one Disciple.Tools system and import them into another system via WP’s default export and import functionality.

Note: This is not a complete export and import feature. **Comments** and most **fields** will be transferred.

Here is what **won’t transfer**:

- **User assignments**. Since this relies on user IDs, your new system won’t have the same system.
- **Connection fields**: Baptisms, Groups, Subassigned, etc
- **Private fields**: Favorite contacts, tasks, etc
- Geocoded Locations. Just the general locations will be imported
- The **activity** log of when fields where changed.

## How to Export Contacts

### Step 1

Navigate to the WP Admin

Click "Export"

## WP Import Tool

You’ll need to install the WordPress Import Tool if you haven’t already.

### Step 1

Go to the WP Admin

Click Tools > "Import"

## How to Import Contacts

### Step 1

Navigate to the WP Admin

Click "Import"

Click "Run Importer"

Click the "Choose a file from your computer:" field.

Click this button.

### Step 6

Set yourself (or an existing user) as the author for all content

Click "Submit"

Click "Visit Site"
