Here is how to export contacts form one Disciple.Tools system and import them into another system via WP’s default export and import functionality.
Note: This is not a complete export and import feature. Comments and most fields will be transferred.
Here is what won’t transfer:
- User assignments. Since this relies on user IDs, your new system won’t have the same system.
- Connection fields: Baptisms, Groups, Subassigned, etc
- Private fields: Favorite contacts, tasks, etc
- Geocoded Locations. Just the general locations will be imported
- The activity log of when fields where changed.
How to Export Contacts #
Step 1 #
Navigate to the WP Admin
Step 2 #
Click “Export”
Step 3 #
Click “Contacts”
Step 4 #
Click this button.
WP Import Tool #
You’ll need to install the WordPress Import Tool if you haven’t already.
Step 1 #
Go to the WP Admin
Step 2 #
Click Tools > “Import”
Step 3 #
(Multisite Step) Click “the main site”
Step 4 #
Click “Install Now”
How to Import Contacts #
Step 1 #
Navigate to the WP Admin
Step 2 #
Click “Import”
Step 3 #
Click “Run Importer”
Step 4 #
Click the “Choose a file from your computer:” field.
Step 5 #
Click this button.
Step 6 #
Set yourself (or an existing user) as the author for all content
Step 7 #
Click “Submit”
Step 8 #
Click “Visit Site”

See your imported contacts
